MD/DC/VA Archaea Site: Map to Hammond Park & Gorman Park


Directions to Hammond Community Park:

Hammond Park is located near Scaggsville, MD in Howard County (near Hammond Middle School). Though small, Hammond Park is also another favored site. At times, parking at Hammond is complicated by events at the site's pavilion. Players can find alternate parking at the middle school, which can be accessed from Johns Hopkins Road (the school is on Aladdin, park on the right-hand side).

From Baltimore, take 95 South to Route 216. Take 216, Scaggsville Road, West toward Scaggsville. At a light, 216 seems to dead end at a t-intersection, turn Right on to Leishear Road. Then, take the immediate left on to Glen Hannah Drive into a townhome community. The park entrance is on the right near the end of the road.

From Washington, take 95 North to Route 216. Take 216, Scaggsville Road, West toward Scaggsville. At a light, 216 seems to dead end at a t-intersection, turn Right on to Leishear Road. Then, take the immediate left on to Glen Hannah Drive into a townhome community. The park entrance is on the right near the end of the road.

As an alternate route, from Baltimore, take Route 29 South to Route 216. Turn left on to Scaggsville Road. Or, from Washington, take Route 29 North, passing Burtonsville, to Route 216 and turn right on to Scaggsville Road. Take 216 a few miles passing some houses. Then, 216 turns left (follow the signs for 216 and 95). At the first light, go straight through on to Leishear Road. Turn at the next left on to Glen Hannah Drive. The park entrance is on the right near the end of the road.

Directions to Gorman Park:

Gorman Park is located off of Gorman Road south of Columbia, MD in Howard County (near Scaggsville).

From Baltimore, take 695 to 70 West to Route 29 South. Or take 95 South to Route 32 West to Route 29 South. Take Route 29 South, passing Columbia, and exit on to Johns Hopkins Road heading east. Take Johns Hopkins a very short distance (once you get through the traffic circles) and turn left at the next immediate left on to Gorman Road (a sign says 'to Gorman road'). Bear right into a community of homes. Stay on the road (Kindler Road) and bear left when the road seems to divide. Gorman Park is at the dead end. Park on the left side of the street only away from the houses.

From Washington, take 495 to Route 29 North. Take Route 29 North, passing Burtonsville, and exit right on to Johns Hopkins Road.
