Directions to Cabin John Campgrounds:

Cabin John Campgrounds (also called McDonnell Campground) is located in Rockville, MD in Montgomery County (near Montgomery Mall). The campground is part of Cabin John Regional Park and has seven separate campsites, well defined paths, picnic areas, and access to running water (during the warm months).

Due to recent construction, directions may not be perfectly accurate (i.e. exit numbers may have changed). Update directions forthcoming, but the following should get you there.

From Baltimore take 95 S to 495 W heading toward Northern Virginia. Travel over the top of the DC beltway and you’ll pass Holy Cross Hospital and the Mormon Temple. Exit on to the 270 N spur toward Frederick. Take the first exit (Exit 1) on to Old Georgetown Road and bear right. Turn right on to Old Georgetown and get immediately into the left lane. At the next light turn left on to Tuckerman Lane. Stay on Tuckerman and you’ll pass under 270 and you’ll pass Westlake Drive. The campsite is on the righ -- there is a brown sign, a bridge, and a gate. Cross the bridge into the site and park on the upper parking lot.

From Virginia take 495 N to Maryland. Take the 270 N spur toward Frederick. You will exit soon on to Democracy Boulevard heading west toward Montgomery Mall. You will pass the mall (on your right). Make an immediate right on to Westlake Drive. Westlake takes you to Tuckerman Lane. At light, turn left on to Tuckerman. The entrance to the campgrounds is on the right -- there is a brown sign, a bridge, and a gate. Cross the bridge into the site and park on the upper parking lot.
